Hanefi Avcı is a Turkish bureaucrat who served as Eskişehir Police Chief and Head of the Intelligence Department of the General Directorate of Security.
Hanefi Avcı, was born in 19556 in Karabıyıklıi Pazarcık, Kahramanmaraş. After completing his secondary education at Karşıyaka School in Gaziantep, Avcı chose the Police College in Ankara for his high school education.
Following the Police College, he graduated from the Police Academy, which trains managers for the Police Organization. In 1976, he started working as a Police Commissioner in the Mut district of Mersin and was later appointed as the Director of the Istanbul Intelligence Branch.
In 2003, he was appointed as the Head of the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Department of the General Directorate of Security. In 2005, he was temporarily appointed as the Provincial Police Chief of Edirne. In the same year, he received TASAM’s Strategic Visionary Bureaucrat Award.
On June 18, 2009, he was appointed as Eskişehir Provincial Police Chief and in August 2010, he resigned from his position voluntarily and was transferred to the central police headquarters. Hanefi Avcı has written several books about his experiences during his tenure. He is also known as the founder of technical-electronic intelligence in the Security Directorate.
In 2017, he continues his life as a Board Member at GMKA DEFENSE INDUSTRY IMPORT EXPORT INC. and also as a Founder, Board of Trustees and Board Member of GMKA FOUNDATION, which was established on October 29, 2023.
